Daphine Tusingwire and her team's first interaction with ReAct Africa programs was at the “My Turn” Symposium 2023 organized in collaboration with different partners. They showcased their creative skit on AMR meant to educate the public on AMR. Thereafter their work on AMR accelerated leading to the founding Working Against Virulent Epidemics (WAVE) a youth-led organization leading AMR interventions in Uganda. Daphine said,“ReAct Africa's mentorship has profoundly influenced my AMR journey, equipping me with the leadership skills and in-depth knowledge necessary to drive change. Their support has been pivotal in my ability to lead WAVE and amplify our impact in raising awareness about antimicrobial resistance.”
Daphine Tusingwire UgandaJanice Odhiambo is the Co-founder of Solving Resistance, a Kenyan youth-led organization that works on designing and implementing community interventions to mitigate Antimicrobial Resistance. Solving Resistance has worked closely with ReAct Africa. Janice said the following about the engagement, “"ReAct Africa has been the cornerstone of my journey in the fight against antimicrobial resistance, providing me with invaluable resources, mentorship, and a platform to amplify my community engagement. Their unwavering support has empowered me to turn passion into action, driving meaningful change in the fight against AMR."
Janice Odhiambo KenyaYuhai Nyambusya, after realizing the immense threat of AMR founded a youth-led organization, Vijana in Antimicrobial Resistance, to engage the community and create awareness on AMR in Zambia. Yuhai said this about her engagement with ReAct Africa, “React Africa believed in my vision as an AMR Youth Champion, their mentorship grew me to the level of founding my own youth movement; Vijana in Antimicrobial Resistance. We are a team focusing on awareness creation, policy and youth involvement in Antimicrobial Resistance starting from community level.”
Yuhai Nyambusya ZambiaNgoni Muzondo found his passion for AMR mitigation after engaging in the ReAct’s AMR Leaders Program for Tertiary Students in Africa. He went ahead to found a youth-led organization, Generational Stewards for Antimicrobials, and has been involved and consulted in many AMR interventions within Zimbabwe and Africa. Ngoni said, "ReAct Africa has bolstered my understanding of Global Public Health and Antimicrobial Resistance through their capacity-building and training programs and annual conferences. They have also allowed me to upgrade my skills and expertise as an AMR youth advocate, empowering me to gain confidence in establishing a youth-led initiative to tackle AMR at the grassroots level."
Ngoni Muzondo ZimbabweYusuf still recounts how he received a warm reception after reaching out to ReAct Africa for support in an AMR project. That was the start of his journey engaging with ReAct Africa. Yusuf went ahead to co-found Alliance Against Antimicrobial Resistance (Triple-A), an youth-led organization that employs crowdsourcing and behavioral change communication messages to combat AMR in Africa. Yusuf says, “ReAct Africa has been an enabler of many important projects that I have been a part of. Whether it is through resources, guidance, or partnerships, I could always count on ReAct Africa. ReAct Africa is such an important pillar for us, the youth in AMR.”

The AMR Youth Coordinating Hub is a collaborative platform aimed at synergizing the youth-led AMR interventions happening in the African Continent. It aims to bring together different youth-led organizations, initiatives and AMR and One Health clubs into a common platform where they can allo work together.
The hub will aid in sustaining and coordinating efforts in establishing a network throughout the African continent. The Hub will also be a database for different toolkits and resource materials aimed at educating and nourishing the youth within Africa with knowledge and skills that can enable them plan and implement sustainable AMR interventions within their local contexts.

J. Randolph K. Keah was invited to attend the 2022 ReAct Africa and South Centre Conference as part of the youth delegation. Through peer networking and cross-learning, he went back home to Liberia and established an AMR program in his organization, Consummate Health and Sanitation. Randolph said, “With limited understanding on AMR, ReAct Africa came on board to provide my team and I technical support and resources that fueled our first national AMR youth program in Liberia, which brought together about 120 young people who are now stewards in Liberia. These opportunities have had a great impact on our success and the many things we hope to achieve in the near future.”
